It is a brand new year and a new chapter in your life, although 2020 may not have been
everyone’s best year, COVID-19 has changed all of our lives in a lot of ways. However,
COVID-19 is still upon us, but a vaccine has been released. We hope to see positive
feedback from the vaccine and most of all we hope that this pandemic comes to an end.
Furthermore, DC Medical Solutions is here to celebrate 2021 with everyone and share some
informative tips on how to stay happy and healthy this upcoming new year.

Here are some tips on how to stay happy and healthy this upcoming 2021 year:
1.Get some comfortable office furniture to use during your working hours (If you work from
home)
Some examples of these are: (depending on the amount of space available) consider
purchasing a large desk, bookshelves, and a comfortable office chair. Sitting in the wrong
positions can be harmful to your spine. Staying organized by having folders, planners and
bookshelves also helps with not feeling overwhelmed while working at home. If you are
working in an office, take precautions and make sure you are taking breaks to walk to help
you stay healthy.

2.Exercise and Stretch Regularly
Exercise naturally boosts endorphins, which increases happiness, enjoyment, and interest
levels, all of which can cause and are essential for productivity. Stretching helps maintain
better posture especially during long periods of sitting down, especially if you work from
home. As the new year approaches we encourage everyone to exercise daily and stretch to
stay healthy and fit. Try to knock these routines before starting your day, it helps you boost
your morning and mood.

3.Eat Healthy Meals & Snacks
Another work from home reality is that we have full access to the kitchen leading to trouble. So,
when it’s time for lunch or a snack break, we are immediately drawn to the usual snacks, such as
chips, cookies, or leftover pizza. However, research has shown that eating fruits and vegetables
has a direct link on overall productivity levels and good health. You can also avoid buying
unhealthy snacks altogether. Reward yourself with a sweet snack or meal on Friday after a
successful and productive week. We are all guilty of this, but it is important that we are aware of
ways to better these habits. If you are in office, be sure to pack and prepare yourself healthy meals
to keep yourself energized during your working day.

4.Invest in yourself, Self-Care
During this pandemic a big concern has been everyone’s emotional and mental health because it
has impacted and changed our lives. Self-care is very important especially when COVID-19 started.

Here are some self-care ideas that you can do (anywhere or at home):

  • Start a journal and write things you are grateful for or express any underlying things you may want to let out or goals
  • Talk a walk outdoors whether it be by yourself, with a friend, your children etc.
  • Call someone you haven’t spoken to in awhile, just like you everyone is experiencing a difficult time adjusting to these times and it is good to check up on your friends and family
  • Declutter/clean out the garage, a room or an office
  • Pull out a cookbook or recipe from online and cook/bake a meal or dessert
  • Mediate and spend some time relaxing

All these things are important to keep in mind to do as we still live in a time where living with
COVID-19 is the ‘new normal’. If we all contribute to help and take precautions the sooner we can
